Case study: Bespoke training for a UK charity
We were approached by a charity who needed support in delivering training to their volunteers.
The charity works with a pool of 198 volunteers, who provide support to people diagnosed with genetic haemochromatosis. The charity provides works across three key areas:
Support
Education & Awareness
Medical Research
Their Volunteer Coordinator and Administrator was kind enough to spend some time describing their experience with us - so we’ll let them do the talking!
Read about the charity’s experience with BiteSize Learning:
“It was perfectly tailored to our needs and exactly what I had hoped for…
I approached BiteSize Learning after discovering them online. I'd been searching for a particular element to a training course which I soon discovered didn't actually exist yet!
Once I approached BiteSize with my thoughts on speaking about the elements of grief that came with change (particularly when being diagnosed with a genetic/ chronic illness), and how our Volunteer GH Buddies would best talk to someone going through that, Abby understood my vision almost immediately. She told me that there was an Active Listening course already established, which could be adapted to best suit our needs.
There was good communication throughout the process, and on the day, Cécile (trainer) was fantastic.
We are a charity working with people who are effected by genetic Haemochromatosis, and it was clear that Cécile had done her own, independent research on the condition so that she could best understand how someone recently diagnosed with the condition would feel. She'd also taken her time to understand the role of our 'Buddies', so she could best relate the training to the roles our Volunteers would be doing.
It was clear the moment the training began, it was perfectly tailored to our needs and exactly what I had hoped for.
The training worked very well with the small group that we had and Cécile encouraged group discussions where it was natural; allowing the group to freely share ideas and best practice with one another.”
