What is a coaching clinic slot?

Coaching Clinic slots are virtual, one hour, 1-2-1 coaching sessions which are designed to support you in overcoming any barriers you may encounter (or have encountered) in applying what you learn during the programme to your development as a leader. Your coach will help you to develop an action plan to overcome these barriers.

Do I need to prepare anything for my Coaching Clinic Slot?

We would like you to come to the coaching sessions with a focus area or development goal in mind related to your leadership role. One question you will be asked is “what have you done so far?”, so please also think about this. The full pre-work brief is available under the “Coaching Clinic Days” section on The Hub.

How do I know when my Coaching Clinic Slot is?

Your Coaching Clinic slot will be allocated to you during the first session. Please make a note of the date and time and add it to your calendar. If you need a reminder, you can find your coaching clinic slot on The Hub in the “Coaching Clinic Days” section.

Where can I find the link for my Coaching Clinic Slot?

You can find the link for your Coaching Clinic Slot on The Hub in the “Coaching Clinic Days” section. Each Coaching Clinic Day has a unique link. Please join the meeting using the link for your Coaching Clinic Day at the start of your Coaching Clinic slot.

Can I rearrange my Coaching Clinic slot?

We have a limited number of Coaching Clinic slots available and therefore cannot rearrange a slot unless you have agreed to swap with someone else in your cohort. If you agree to swap a coaching clinic slot with someone else, please let Marianne know.

Pre-work, post-work, course notes and other course materials can be found on The Hub. You will need to refer to the Hub regularly so please bookmark it the first time you visit it so that you can access it quickly and easily throughout the programme. Don’t worry if you can’t see everything straight away - course content will be unlocked as the programme progresses. It’s best to check the hub before and after every session so that you don’t miss anything.

What is The Hub?

The Hub contains all the information and resources you need for the Leadership Essentials programme. This includes pre-work, post-work, course notes, coaching clinic slots, zoom links, session details, trainer bio and recommended reading lists. It has been designed to make it easier for you to find the information you need so that you can make the most of your sessions.

How do I access the Hub?

You’re already here! The Hub is accessed using the link and password Marianne sent you at the start of the programme. Please bookmark The Hub in your browser so that you can find it easily.

Is pre-work and post-work compulsory?

Participation in the pre-work and post-work activities is integral to the overall learning journey of the Stepping up to Leadership programme. The tasks are designed to enhance your learning experience and maximise the benefits you can derive from the programme.

The pre-work materials lay the foundation for the topics that will be covered during the session. Completing them will enable more meaningful interactions with fellow participants and your trainer. Similarly, the post-work activities are designed to help you apply what you have learned and reinforce your development as a leader.

However, we understand that circumstances may arise which make it impossible to complete a task. In such cases, please talk to Marianne to discuss any challenges or constraints you may be facing.

Remember, the more you invest in the pre-work and post-work, the more you stand to gain from the leadership development programme. It's an opportunity to deepen your understanding, apply new skills, and make the most of your developmental journey.

Can I have a copy of the slides?

Whilst we can’t provide a copy of the slides, we do provide comprehensive course notes which include all of the key topics covered during the session. The course notes can be found on The Hub under each course section.

What should I do if I cannot attend a session?

We strongly encourage you to make every effort to attend all sessions, as consistent participation is key to achieving your leadership development goals. Your active engagement will not only enhance your learning experience but also contribute to the overall collective learning and collaboration within the programme. However, we understand that there may be unavoidable circumstances which prevent you attending a session. If you cannot make a session, we recommend taking the following steps:

1. Notify Marianne as soon as you become aware that you will not be able to attend.

2. Review the course materials after the session to gain an understanding of the key concepts and discussions.

3. Reach out to fellow participants who attended the session to gather insights and perspectives.

What should I expect from the live sessions?

The live sessions are designed to be as interactive as possible. All sessions include group discussions as well as breakout exercises in small groups or pairs. For virtual sessions, we recommend that you find a quiet space where you can contribute freely to discussions. Your trainer will ask that you have your camera on throughout the session.

We strongly recommend joining the call from the Zoom desktop application, rather than your browser to avoid technical issues. We also suggest closing any other applications which might be using your camera or microphone.

It is important that participants feel comfortable contributing ideas and answers, and so we do not record our sessions.

Marianne will send you calendar invites with links for all live sessions, except for the Coaching Clinic Days, at the start of the programme.
