Managing remote workers

We are running a free Taster for our new course Managing Remote Workers on 23rd February.

Remote working has increased significantly over the last decade, fuelled by technology, globalisation, the search for talent and desire to improve work and life balance.

Remote working on the increase

The number of UK employees who say they usually work from home has increased by a fifth (19%) over the past decade. Just over 45% of UK workers work 2.5 days remotely either from home, another base or when travelling between meetings. Increasingly teams are not co-located; managers are responsible for employees who work in different locations either domestically or internationally.

Benefits of remote working

Government research shows that another 4 million UK workers would like to work from home for at least some of their working week but are not given the chance. Research by communication company Powwownow found that 53% of people feel that they would be more productive if they could work outside the office and 70% of workers feel that offering flexible working makes a job more attractive to them.Remote working creates new challenges and opportunities for managers. In this course we explore some of the myths around remote working and provides tools and techniques to help participants manage remote workers with confidence.  In this course participants will:

  • Examine the increase in remote working along with the opportunities and challenges it brings

  • Identify the key differences between working remotely as opposed to working from the same location

  • Work through common scenarios that managers face when managing remote workers

  • Explore practical tips and techniques for success

  • Create a personal action plan
